Women's Ministry

The New Community Church of God in Christ Department of Women (DOW), under the capable leadership of our President, Evangelist Esther L. Greenfield, is made up of women of all ages who have a heart for ministry and are taught how to operate with a spirit of excellence.  The organizational structure of the DOW at New Community resembles much of our National Women’s Department, where every age group, every gift, and talent is utilized to help build the Kingdom of God.  Mother Greenfield teaches the women to “not be all over the place, but in their place!”  That “place” is where God desires for them to be, whether it is with the Executive Board, Elder’s and Minister’s Wives Circle, Prayer and Bible Band, Purity unit, Sunshine Band, Evangelists and Missionaries, Hospitality, Young Women’s Christian Council, Christian Women’s Council, Nurses Unit, Pastor’s Aide Committee, Mother’s Board, Usher’s Board, and wherever else to help and assist the local church, District, and Jurisdiction.

In addition to the plethora of auxiliaries within the New Community DOW, throughout the year, the DOW hosts Women’s Day every fourth Sunday, with a dynamic women’s choir, has special services, and activities for fellowship such as the annual Rainbow Tea, 100 Women in Hats, My Sister’s Keeper, and much, much more!  The New Community DOW is on the move with purpose, and we are doing it as one in the body of Christ in these last and evil days!  Much like our first Director of Women in the Church of God in Christ, Mother Lizzie Woods Robinson, we are reminiscent of Jeremiah 9:17-20 which states “Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Consider ye, and call for the mourning women, that they may come:  And let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.  For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we spoiled!  We are greatly confounded because we have forsaken the land because our dwellings have cast us out.  Yet hear the word of the Lord, O ye women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth, and teach your daughters wailing, and everyone her neighbor lamentation.”
