Meet Our Elect-Lady
Meet Our Elect-Lady
Elect Lady JoAnn Hunt was born and raised in Washington, D.C. She is the second of five children born to the late George and Florence White. After graduating from Western High School, she attended Bowie State College, where she accepted Christ into her life.
After leaving college, Missionary Hunt joined the Church of the Holy Trinity, where her first Pastor was Bishop Arthur R. Christian. While there, she became a member of the Nurses Unit, the Young Adult Choir, and the Women's Department. One Saturday morning, during prayer service, she received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. God truly blessed and equipped her spiritually for the task that lay ahead.
In September 1976, during a weekend youth service, she met Brother Willie Hunt, and after a whirlwind courtship, they married in May of 1977. The young bride and her groom were off to Ramstein AFB in Germany three days after the wedding.
In October 1979, they left Germany and went to Grand Forks AFB in North Dakota, where they sat under the leadership of Bishop Michael Cole. During their short stay, Missionary Hunt taught Sunday School. That January of 1980, their first son, Maurice, was born and in February of that same year, they were off to Myrtle Beach AFB in Conway, South Carolina.
In South Carolina, the Hunt family attended Mason Temple Church Of God In Christ under the pastor's leadership.
James L. Lee. For five years, Pastor and Missionary Hunt worked diligently and faithfully, learning the Word of God and learning to pray. In November 1983, their second son, Michael, was born; in July 1985, their daughter, Kimberly, was born. The Hunts now have two daughters-in-law, Alaina and Latashia Hunt, and four grandchildren, Simone, Stephen, Shane, and Salena Hunt.
In December 1985, Missionary Hunt agreed with her husband to leave South Carolina to return to Washington, D.C., for opportunities that would "better their family." The Lord blessed just like He said He would. On March 14, 1990, Pastor Hunt held the first service of the New Community Church Of God In Christ. In 2003, under the direction of Bishop David W. Spann of the Greater Maryland 1st Jurisdiction, Missionary Hunt received her Evangelist Missionary License.
Elect Lady Hunt's commitment to the Lord, and active participation allows her to work in all areas of the ministry. She currently serves as President of the Minister's Wives Circle, the fourth Sunday Women's Day services coordinator, and provides training for all Missionaries.
Elect Lady Hunt's "soft touch" and delivery of the Word of God have blessed all who have heard her speak. First Lady Hunt has touched and blessed many lives through her leadership and unique qualities.
